Tewannah's 2024 March for Life Testimony

Good afternoon. My name is Tewannah. I am so thankful to be here today to share how God has redeemed the worst thing I have ever done. Since I was a little girl, I’d always dreamed of having a houseful of giggling little girls and boisterous little boys. But that dream was not meant to be.

As a teenager, I was stuck in a cycle of unhealthy, abusive relationships. And then it happened. At 18, I found out I was pregnant. My heart was overflowing with love for my unborn baby. I could not wait to share the good news with a person that I thought I could trust. But her response broke my heart. She told me that I was too young and immature. She brainwashed me into believing that the baby was an insignificant mass of cells. By the time she was done with me, I was plagued with fear.

It was years later, when I discovered the devastating truth about what happens during an abortion procedure. That reality sent me spiraling downward. It felt like I was sinking in a sea of guilt, shame, and regret. But God had a plan! I was directed to a Bible study for women seeking healing after an abortion called Forgiven and Set Free. That is where I experienced the healing power of the Lord Jesus Christ. I understood that He had paid the debt for all my sins and that included the abortion. I truly was forgiven. It was as if this incredible weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

I married a wonderful Christian man. It wasn’t long after that we found out we were pregnant. Tragically, at 22 weeks, we lost the baby. We named him David Nathan. There ended up being a connection between the abortion and the loss of our son. And that is what God used to propel me into the pro-life ministry.

God has enabled me to speak into the lives of many women. To me, there is nothing greater than meeting a person who is here because I helped their mom choose life. God is so good. He is a God who heals and redeems. My passion is to continue to bring help to those in need of hope, healing, and restoration. In Jesus name. And that is why I am Silent No More.
