Recall Abortion, the first book by longtime pro-life activist Janet Morana, looks at abortion from a whole new angle – as a consumer product that failed to deliver on its promises and is harmful to society. The book, and a growing movement, demand a government recall of the product called abortion.

Published by Saint Benedict Press, the book offers a new cause for optimism as the nation commemorates the 40th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions that legalized abortion through all nine months of pregnancy and for any reason.

“Abortion was going to assure equal rights for women, make every child a ‘wanted’ child and have a positive impact on societal problems like domestic violence and poverty,” Mrs. Morana said. “But abortion has done none of those things. Forty years after Roe, this country has the blood of 55 million babies on its hands, and millions of their mothers have been physically and emotionally harmed by this terrible product.”

Janet Morana is the executive director of Priests for Life and co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign. In Recall Abortion, Mrs. Morana exposes the many ways abortion exploits women instead of empowering them. The book incorporates scholarly research, interviews with pro-life leaders and dozens of moving testimonies from women who have had abortions.

“Experience trumps rhetoric every time,” she said.

Pro-life luminaries like Father Frank Pavone, Margaret Hartshorn and Norma McCorvey – Jane Roe in Roe v. Wade -- have endorsed Recall Abortion and describe it as an important and promising addition to pro-life strategizing.

“After reading it,” said Joe Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League, “I predict everyone will be calling for this product to be pulled from the shelves.”
