Suggested Prayer Topics
by Georgette Forney, Campaign Co-founder
As we prepare for the Campaign events, it is critical that
we have a strong foundation of prayer. We know prayer is where
the power resides and real work is done. Thank you for praying
for this Campaign, and making prayer a priority. To give you a
better sense of what your prayers support, I will briefly
describe both types of events the Campaign is planning. The
specific prayer topics are listed below the descriptions.
Gatherings
Throughout the months of January and September, Gatherings
of those who want to share their abortion experience in the
public square will be held. People who regret their abortion
experience are invited to join the Campaign. We must let
people know that abortion hurts women, men, and children. The
Gatherings will be held in many locations, such as a city
hall, park, or any area that seems appropriate for a community
or city. To find out where the Gatherings will be held, or to
register to participate, visit our website,
www.SilentNoMoreAwareness.org.
Those who choose to participate will be invited to share a
brief testimony of their experience, and hold our "I
Regret My Abortion" signs (some women may not feel ready
to share their testimony but want to participate; they can do
so by holding our "I Regret My Abortion" sign).
During the Gathering, a spokesperson for the event will make
opening comments that include an announcement about the
upcoming "Hour of Reflection" (healing service) to
be held in the following month (either February or October
respectively). A similar national event is planned for
Washington, DC on January 22nd. The media will be invited to
all the Gatherings.
Hour of Reflection Services
The Hour of Reflection Services will invite Churches to
conduct a service of healing to reach out to those who are
hurting as a result of abortion. The service will be referred
to as, "An Hour of Reflection – A time of healing for
pregnancy loss from abortion." They will act as a
follow-up to the message of hope at the Gatherings. They will
occur the months after the Gatherings in February and October.
Our main focus will be hurting women who have had abortions
but have never known help is available. In addition, others
who have been involved in an abortion will also be welcomed
for example, fathers of the babies, parents of the women,
clinic workers, etc.
While those who attend the Services will probably be
Christian, the Services reach out to those who have never
attended church and may be uncomfortable with ‘religion.’
We see this as a first step in the healing process.
Common characteristics of both events:
- Need to happen in many cities/communities—will have
multiple events per state.
- Prayer needs to begin immediately as the foundation of the
events’ development.
- Need "Event Leaders" or "Event Teams"
to make events happen.
- Dates for each month’s event will be flexible.
Prayer Topics
The Events:
- January/September Gatherings –
- Gatherings will happen at the right time and place.
- Media would pay attention—attracting lots of TV
reports and newspaper articles, which are fair and
balanced.
- Many women and men will come forward and share their
testimonies
- A great number of people will hear the testimonies.
- Good weather
- Details of planning and executing the Gatherings will
be properly handled.
- February/October Hour of Reflection Services –
- God’s presence would minister to all who attend
Services and minister to each person’s heart.
- Services will happen at the right time and place.
- Many women and others who are hurting will hear about
the Services and attend.
- Details of planning and executing the services will be
properly handled.
The Audience:
- The people who are hurting –
- Pray they will stop trying to run from and deny the pain
they feel from their abortion experience. They will have
the courage to admit feelings and seek help.
- They will find good Christ-centered help when they seek
it.
- Those who have experienced acute pain after abortion and
have hid it will find safe places and acceptance as they
seek help.
- As women and men face this issue, they will have to tell
family members, children or others close to them; pray for
courage and wisdom to know how and when to share their
abortion experience.
- The general public –
- They will recognize that abortion is bad for women;
women don’t want abortion, women feel they have no
choice but abortion.
- They will begin to see that abortion is never the
solution for an unplanned pregnancy; their hearts will
want to help pregnant women.
- Others who were involved in abortion; this includes clinic
workers, abortion doctors, boyfriends, parents, and friends
who helped, encouraged or forced a women to have an
abortion-
- They will seek help and forgiveness from God for their
pain as well as receive forgiveness from the women they
hurt.
- As all of these people groups realize the negative
impact abortion has had, they will bring their pain and
sin to Jesus. Pray they will confess, repent, seek, and
receive God’s forgiveness.
- As these people receive forgiveness, they will be
encouraged to share their regret about abortion with
others, spreading the Campaign messages.
People Involved:
- Jennifer O’Neill – the Campaign’s celebrity
spokesperson, who has also had an abortion: She is on the
front line and will do numerous secular media interviews
(both radio and television) over the next few months. Pray
she will have the right answers to touch hearts during
each interview, and when she faces hostile people she will
respond in love with wisdom. Those who need to hear the
Campaign message would stop and listen when they hear her
speaking. Protection for her and her family as she travels
extensively.
- The Silent No More Awareness Campaign co-founders
(Georgette and Janet) and their staff: All the details
they need to take care of will be handled well and guided
by God. Pray for safety, health, and time with God and
family.
- The Event Leaders and their families: All the details
they need to take care of will be handled well and guided
by God. Pray for safety, health and time with God so they
can stay balanced and focused on Him.
- The women and others who will actually speak at the
Gatherings and Services: they will have courage and be
able to clearly share their story. Many will come forward
to share their story.
- The Prayer Teams: they will not be distracted from
praying often and fasting as God guides.
- The people who work at the toll-free hotline,
800-395-HELP: that women and others will call for
immediate help. Enough staff to cover all the calls and
enough lines to handle them.
- Norma McCorvey and Sandra Cano: the two women involved
in the legal cases, which made abortion legal throughout a
pregnancy. Both of these deal with a lot because of their
role in making abortion legal.. May these women experience
absolute peace and assurance of God’s love and
forgiveness.
Final thoughts
Please consider fasting one day a week (possibly Wednesday)
through the end of the month of the event; we know that a
concert of prayer and fasting is a powerful weapon against the
enemy. What we really seek to do is break the spiritual
stronghold of the enemy on many people and this country.
Please pray any attacks against the Campaign or those involved
would be stopped before they start.
I personally experienced the power of prayer as it broke
the walls of denial behind which I lived for 19 years. I know
it is the key to set women and others free from the bondage of
their abortion. I have also prayed for the walls to come down
for specific women for six months or more and have seen them
completely changed when the walls finally came down, and they
asked for help. So please be encouraged and know your
perseverance and intercession will bear fruit for eternity. I
pray every one of us who make this Campaign a focus of prayer
will personally experience more of God and His awesome love.
Most of all I pray our goal will be that God the Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit would be glorified and honored by all
that is said and done on behalf of this Campaign.
Blessing to all,
Georgette
