I wear my SNM sign every Saturday morning at Planned Parenthood where I help to sidewalk counsel -- I know for certain one baby and mother who were saved as a result! I give all glory to Him who has given me the strength and courage to be His hands, His feet, and His voice.

Silent No More Awareness Campaign

Thursday, July 7, 2016

When Colleen’s colleague at a prestigious Massachusetts university confided she was pregnant and planning an abortion, Colleen offered to drive her to the abortion business.

“That day haunts me, as I am devoted now to my faith, to my God, to my heavenly Mother Mary, and to my husband and four beautiful children,” Colleen wrote in her testimony for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign. “How could I stray so far away from God? How did I become so lost and soulless and selfish and vacant?”

Kathy tells a similar story. When a college friend told her she was pregnant, Kathy said she would support any decision her friend made.

“I thought I was being a supportive friend. I thought the burden of this sin would be totally hers, and I was an innocent bystander just helping her do what she wanted do. I drove her to the abortion facility three hours away,” Kathy wrote

“After the abortion, I drove her back to school. Eventually, I realized I was complicit in the death of this child.”

This month, Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion – an initiative of Silent No More – focuses on healing abortion survivors, and friends who helped friends have abortions.

“Almost every woman who has had an abortion had a confidant, or someone who accompanied her that day,” said Georgette Forney, president of Anglicans for Life and co-founder of Silent No More. “These people have been harmed by the shockwaves of abortion, too, and we want them to know we understand their feelings and that help is available.”

This month also touches on a number of different subgroups within the survivor population and the unique issues of each group, including the disabled; children threatened with comments such as I should have aborted you; those who survived an actual abortion procedure, and those whose parents thought about aborting them, or actually scheduled an abortion, that was later not carried out.

“Healing is available for every abortion survivor, whether they are people who lived through an abortion themselves or could have been aborted, like every person in the U.S. born since 1973,” said Janet Morana, executive director of Priests for Life and co-founder of Silent No More. “The shockwaves of abortion touch all of us.”

Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion was launched in January 2015 to recognize the many groups of people who are affected by the loss of every child. Through Shockwaves, organizers hope to help people understand the source of their pain and find healing.

At abortionshockwaves.com, visitors will find testimonies, prayers, articles and referrals to healing resources.

In a society in which every one of us is touched by abortion,” said Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life and pastoral director of Silent No More, “no one should have to suffer alone.”

The Campaign began November 11, 2002.  As of January 2016, the Silent No More Awareness Campaign has held 1,582 Gatherings in 17 countries & 48 states with 5,978 women and men sharing their abortion testimonies. Testimonies have also been shared at 117 high schools and universities in the last 5 years, 14 in 2015. There are 2,405 testimonies posted on the Campaign website, with 395 that are shared via video!  Currently there are 17,049 people registered with the Campaign representing 77 countries.
