Don’t gamble with your health and that of the children you might bear in the future. Protect yourself and them by choosing life. - Cynthia Labutka
It took 5 years before I could forgive myself and get fully healed. Our slogan in the 1960’s was “Make love, not war.” Actually, we began a holocaust on our unborn and put ourselves in horrible bondage. - Bobbie Jones
It is our pleasure to serve as Regional Coordinators for southwest Louisiana. We are working hard to educate the public, especially college students, regarding abortion, its dangers and manifold consequences.
From Cynthia: 337-257-3515Though both of my parents hail from Texas, like a good Cajun, I live about eight hundred feet from the bayou under massive oak trees with my husband, Rick, and teenagers Jessica (age 18) and Jacob (age 16). My daughter just graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau and my son is entering his junior year in the Gifted and Talented Program at Lafayette High School. All family members assist me in my ministry. Rick, also known as "Big Daddy", helps to fund my projects while my teenagers take photographs at events and help me email everything to the national office.
I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in History in 1980 from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette). At the age of 52, I have decided to reach for the next level and return to graduate school to work on my Master's Degree in Pastoral Studies. I am enrolled in the graduate school of Loyola University of New Orleans in the extension program in the diocese of Lafayette. As a child I wanted to be a Jesuit priest, so it is ironic that I will be a student at a Jesuit institution at this time in my life. I gave up my dreams of ordination long ago. This is the closest that I will ever come without some kind of miracle.
My favorite hobby is writing my guest column for our local newspaper, The Advertiser (theadvertiser.com). It appears about once a month. I do have a beautiful antique violin which I play every now and then, and also enjoy reading, working in the garden, monitoring National Public Radio while sitting on my back patio, and spending time in prayer. In the near future, I plan to begin work on a book dealing with abortion recovery.
My husband and I have been Oblates of the Olivetan Benedictine monastery of Mother of the Redeemer in Plaisance, Louisiana since 1992 and members of St. Pius X Catholic Church here in Lafayette, where we serve as Eucharistic Ministers, since 1993.
By the way, that little girl who wanted to be a Jesuit happened to be a young Baptist. For most Protestants, gender is not an impediment to ordination.
From Bobbie: 504-228-5450My name is Bobbie Jones and I am the Regional Coordinator of New Orleans for Silent No More. I personally had an abortion in 1972 and suffered emotionally, physically, and spiritually for 12 years. At age 40 our Lord Jesus met me at my lowest point. With His mighty hand of forgiveness I began my journey into healing. A burning need came in me to tell the truth about abortion’s tragic aftermath. That’s when I became Silent No More.
