My Dad's Testimony

  Daniel
Texas,  United States

My name is Daniel Rosa, and I am testifying for those who are children of post abortive fathers.

Growing up as a Roman Orthodox Catholic, I frequently went to pro-life events. Of course, as a younger child, I didn’t understand the meaning of abortion, of the harm, the effects, or the pain. As I grow older, I choose to learn more about the destructive acts of abortion. I stand for life for my brothers and sisters to have a chance to be loved. As much as we affect them, they affect us.

I have heard others’ pro-life testimonies of their struggle and loss, but the testimony that impacts me the most is my dad’s. My father told me why my older brother was named David II. If my dad is David Senior, why is my brother not David Junior? Now I understand that David Junior never made it into this world. My Dad’s love for my oldest brother and his bravery to explain his loss motivates to come on this stage today.

I’ve seen a commercial saying that we are imperfect beings living in an imperfect world. Even though this is an imperfect world, that does not mean we should stand aside and watch this world forget the love of the Creator of all men and women, boys and girls, born and unborn. God made us to form His world into a place for persons to know, to love, and to serve Him as best we can and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

My dad told us his testimony after my brother, David II, asked him if he ever had an abortion. My Dad bravely sat us down at the dinner table, all three of us, his children, and opened up his life story. He held nothing back, explaining the struggles of his relationship with my Mom, the affair he had, and the destruction he brought upon himself and his child, my brother with this other woman. He courageously told us and the world his testimony on this stage a few years ago. He is my role model, my inspiration, but most of all he’s my father and I love him.

We do not march to fight against a law written on paper. Instead, we march in support of the law written upon our hearts.

Thank you.
