I had my Abortion to avoid Disappointing my Family

I had my abortion in 1992 during my sophomore year of college to avoid disappointing my family. My parents were Pro-Choice and it was legal so I thought it would be okay. I begrudgingly went through with a surgical abortion at 7 weeks because I had already told my boyfriend that’s what I would do if I ever got pregnant before marriage. Unfortunately, I didn’t really give it a lot of thought. Immediately after the abortion, I felt relief and six months later the father of the baby committed suicide. As time went on, I forgot about the abortion due to coping with the grief of my boyfriend’s suicide. Five years later, I got married and we went on to have 5 children without any issues. I confessed to my abortion after 30 years of marriage and living in denial. After I confessed, I found forgiveness and healing through a Forgiven and Set free class at my local crisis pregnancy center. I confessed my abortion so that my kids would never make the same mistake I did at 19 which is why I am Silent No More!!
