Though illegal, 51and a half years ago, I had an abortion and then, again, three and a half years later. I didn't know that I was actually killing a baby. Still ignorant of this fact, many years later, I made my daughter then 15 years old have an abortion. I soon realized what a mortal sin I had committed. Not once, but two times for myself and once for my daughter.

As a Roman Catholic, I confessed these sins, received forgiveness from God and was eventually able to forgive myself.

In the early 1980's, I met a young woman who had had an abortion and who was speaking out against this heinous practice. For a time, I participated in a Pro-Life group sponsored by my church, St. Nicholas of Tolentine, and a neighboring Catholic Church, Our Lady of Angels. Although I no longer participate in an organized program, I contribute what I can to the cause.

I want to state to those who have experienced abortion, there is forgiveness and healing, in your life. To those who are contemplating abortion, PLEASE, contact your church, priest, minister, or rabbi. There is help out there for you, your unborn child, and your family.
