The War on Women

I was 19 and paralyzed with fear that my parents would find out I was engaging in sex outside of marriage. I had no real awareness that it was another human being in my womb. I saw it as just a witness to my shame. There are no significant memories of the clinic where the procedure was performed. It was very clinical and efficient. No questions about my feelings were asked nor was I told of any potential long term emotional or physical effects.

Of course I was relieved afterwards but still held on to the fear that I would be found out.
My baby's father was out of my life from that point forward. I became very promiscuous, abused alcohol, developed depression, and had trouble relating to others.

Finally, I sought help in a Catholic post-abortion retreat and learned that post-abortion syndrome is not even listed as a condition that needed treatment in the DSM-III manual. Talk about a war on women! That's why I'm going to be silent no more!
