I was pregnant with the first high school boyfriend I thought I was in love with. We wanted to get married at 16 and 17 years old, but my mother talked to the local OB GYN who convinced her that a baby at 11 weeks was only a clump of cells. Immediately after the abortion and some blood transfusions, he told my mother it was "like expecting a branch and getting a trunk!”

I was upset about the entire event but took years to realize what we had actually done and how my eternal soul had been risked. My parents started to attend church every day and went to confession immediately after the abortion, but my relationship with them as moral guidance was forever affected.

It took 20 years to reconcile with God for what we had done. God has forgiven me and I pray that my parents experienced forgiveness as well. Not a day goes by that I don't pray for the soul I aborted and know that baby is in Jesus' arms. I can be silent no more!
