Can I Be of Help?

I have not had an abortion. My sister, my peers and lots of my patients have.
I paid for the abortion of my roommate. I feared she would kill herself. She returned to the apartment to deliver her baby in the toilet. I helped her bury the baby. As a student nurse in the UK in the 1960's, I witnessed hundreds of women have surgical abortions or prostaglandins-induced abortions. In addition, I saw many women admitted in labor following visits to back street abortionists. I had empathy for the Moms who were about the same age as me. The worst thing, to my immature mind, was to be estranged from parents. My roommate went to a back-street abortionist (a Certified Nurse-Midwife), because she was afraid of what parents and peers would think of her.
Fifteen years later, on the inducement of friends who were evangelical Christians, I read the Bible. Jesus himself ministered to me and revealed himself to me. I was awakened by a 3 a.m. nightmare in which I saw many dead babies. I suddenly heard Jesus' words, "I put before you life and death..." with the additional understanding, "There is no gray area". Until this time I had never had the slightest guilt about my participation in abortion. It had been a non-thought for 15 years. It was proof to me of the Living God.
In the early years, though a single parent, I did manage to instill this conviction about life (though not the Author of Life), in my children. I have made a couple of testimonies to reporters and written a few letters. I have shown up on occasion to pro-life demonstrations. I have done quite a bit of research on my own. I am at the time of my life when I am free to do more.
