Silent No More is on the road with 40 Days for Life UNITED

Silent No More Awareness Campaign

40 Days for Life has asked the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, a joint project of Priests for Life and Anglicans for Life, to be part of its UNITED Tour, a nationwide pro-life mobilization that is bringing together record numbers of people across all 50 states to pray, fast, and publicly stand for life outside abortion facilities.

40 Days for Life UNITED kicked off with a vigil in Washington, D.C., where Silent No More Co-Founder Georgette Forney spoke of the abortion she had as a teenager and the remorse and pain it caused her. Silent No More was founded in 2003 when she and Janet Morana, executive director of Priests for Life, wanted other women, and men, hurting after abortion to know that healing and forgiveness are available.

Since then, more than 6,200 women and men have shared their stories at nearly 1,700 events in 17 countries and all 50 states, so the 40 Days United campaign seemed a perfect fit.

“We share our stories, because we want to dismantle the arguments that women need abortion and that it is a harmless procedure,” Mrs. Forney said. “We are the traumatized consumers of this product called abortion and our voices of experience need to be heard.

From now until Nov. 6, 40 Days leaders and their partners will drive from state to state in an RV, often with a member of Silent No More on board. Cindy Brunk, a regional coordinator from Oregon, is flying to Denver and spending six days on the RV as it travels to Oregon, stopping to pray and witness outside abortion businesses along the way.

In total, Silent No More will be present in 44 states, including Alaska – where Mrs. Forney will speak on Oct. 24 – and Hawaii.

“We’re unleashing the power of God on this one,” Mrs. Forney said. “Our sisters and brothers need to hear the truth, and this social experiment of legal abortion needs to end.”

“We often say that experience trumps rhetoric,” Mrs. Morana said. “No one can tell the women of Silent No More that abortion was the best thing for them, or that it solved a problem. These are lies sold by the abortion industry. We are happy to join with 40 Days for Life in making sure the truth is heard all over the United States.”

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life and pastoral director of Silent No More, added, "This partnership is natural for us, because Priests for Life has been involved in 40 Days for Life from the very start, and I was pleased to endorse and help grow 40 Days for Life into a national and international effort. Likewise, in every 40 Days for Life campaign over all these years, the men and women of Silent No More have been present outside of abortion facilities, sharing their powerful testimonies of hurt, hope, and healing."
