Prayer of a Dad who Lost a Child to Abortion

by Fr. Frank Pavone

Lord God,
You are the Father of all,
And the source and pattern of all fatherhood.

You are our Provider, our Protector, our Encourager,
And you enable us to do the same for others.
I thank you for your mercy and healing, Of which I stand in need
As I grieve my own lost fatherhood.
I turn to you, the Eternal Father, And ask to be renewed
And to start again.

And I ask you to receive
Into Your endless Life and Love, the child you once entrusted to me.
Give me new hope and new strength.
Always remind me
That you have more blessings for me in the future
Than there is pain in the past,
And that for everyone whom I may have failed to serve before,
You have many that you call me to serve

From today forward.
Lead me, Lord, in new hope and new strength.

I pray with confidence in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
