I decided on my abortion because I had just placed a baby for adoption about one and a half months prior to becoming pregnant again.

During the abortion experience, I felt very numb. It felt as if there wasn't a positive emotion in existence. Even before arriving at the clinic, I felt heavy grief, self-hatred and regret.

After the procedure, those feelings magnified themselves. The night after my procedure, I drank very heavily, as I did for a month and a half straight afterwards. Alcohol was my escape from the vivid nightmares.

About two months later, I found myself pregnant yet again. When I drank, I didn't have nightmares.

I found help and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that I was given the ability to forgive myself. After about a year of pain, I went through a healing program and was able to let go of so much more than I initially had. I completely let go and let God! Because of the amazing gift of forgiveness, I am finally free from the shame and guilt and that is why I am silent no more!
