Setting Other Women Free

I had an abortion because I felt there was no hope. I let another influence me into thinking that this was the best for all involved. I went to the abortion clinic. I do not remember much from the initial event, other than pain. I was required to come back for a check-up, and this is the event that most bothers me. When they called my name (first name only) I got up and went back. They performed another abortion without verifying who I was. This really hurt and caused a lot of bleeding. Because I was only a few days past the first procedure, the clinic panicked. All of a sudden, they treated me like a person, not a procedure.
Immediately after, I became withdrawn and wanted to hide from life. I met a guy and married him three days later, walking away from my entire life. This began a two year journey of drugs and alcohol. I was extremely angry and distrustful of people.
As time went on, I did not want to live this way. I planned an escape from my current situation and got away. After a while, I met my husband and had a son. This is when reality came crashing in on me. After the birth of my son, I held him and cried for weeks, realizing what I had done.
I began to seek God and His forgiveness. I found the most help and forgiveness when I brought others into my healing journey, Through Freedom ministries and studies. Completing a retreat and an in-depth study has brought a fulfillment of healing from God and from myself.
I have a passion to see other women set free from the bondage of abortion, and that is why I am silent no more.
